Page Maps + Basic Grey Challenge

Hi everybody,

Page Maps  is celebrating 7th anniversary this months!!! I love this site as a new set of sketches is released each months and if you are ever stuck for an inspiration then the pagemaps.com is a place to go.  They are having several competitions ongoing at the moment, you can check on their blog here, but one I am playing at the moment is with Kelly Goree and  Basic Grey ; all details are here.

The rules are simple, create a page based on this sketch:

and use some patterned papers on your page. This is my take on the sketch:

As you can see, I rotated the sketch and converted it to 12x12 to fit better to my album. Overplayed same photo, I saw this for the first time done by Rachael form awindowtoomyworld.blogspot.com ,. blog definitely worth visiting.

I used Basic Grey Serenade collection of papers,  buttons and stickers are also from the same collection. I love all muted tones in this collection. Small roses are by Prima as well as wooden flowers, leaf and epoxy sticker I put over the sticker that says  'you'. Coloured the wooden flowers and leaf with Ranger distress paints. Doilies are by WRMK and big blue flowers is my own make using Sizzix dies, distress inks and mulberry paper.

Hope you like the page:

Have a nice day and thanks again for your visit.

Monochrome and BW photo Page

Hello everybody,

I have been swamped with the work these days and that will hopefully last for several weeks. However I promised my do-craft buddies to write this page which is a part of our monthly challenge, the challenge is just for fun and inspiration.

The page is already in my gallery and I want to share it with all my readers:

The photo is of me, and the title says 'The First Steps'. Even the photos do not capture my first steps, those were first photos of me walking and they were taken by a photographer visiting the school where my mum used to work. This was school in very rural place, hard to reach at the time and two us were staying there during the school term. There is a big tag behind the photos that tells the story.

To create the background: I started off by applying distress paint (Broken China) on the corners over the Prima 6x6 Crackle Template on mixed media bamboo paper. This was done for completely different page which I decided not to use. The paint was well dried before the next step.  Then I applied  Golden Paste over Chicken wire template (6x6 template) in area where my photos would be.  Before the paste dried I sprayed the page with the Dylusion ink - turquoise blue, generously and with water slightly and left the page to dry well. The paste soaked the ink very well.

Once the page was dried I took back the crackle template and distress ink - walnut stain and  applied in the corners, I tried to go over the paint 'cracks'  and I applied the ink on the edges of the page. Using the same ink and Tim Holtz stamps I stamped the page - this is mainly covered by the doily and photos.

So the next layer was a large Bo-Bunny doily, inked around the edges and my photos on top.

To decorate the page I used the Webster Pages trim, few Prima flowers - small roses, Prima flower centers and the rest of the flowers is my own using Sizzix dies and mulberry paper, chipboard flourishes and letters are also Sizzix die-cuts  from Tim Hotlz grungeboard, painted, glossed and so on...  Other ingredients include: Hero Arts stamps/dies set, distress markers (for colouring the stamps), glossy accent, Tim Holtz safety pin, crackle ribbon, and tiny tag. Once again lots of Tim Holtz and Prima products ;-).

I hope you like my page. As usual few close-ups:

I have 2 more pages ready for two different challenges, I hope I will manage to post them these days. Watch out this space.  We finally have some sunny weather, lets hope that the temperature will rise soon too.

Have a nice day and thank you for your visit and your comments.

P.S.

Some anonymous comments with inappropriate links were left on my last post, so I disabled anonymous comments as the first measure to prevent this happening again. I am sorry for inconvenience, I would not mind anonymous genuine comments nor links to craft/design related blogs/websites, but this was of all together different nature.

Mixed Media Page and Flowers Challenge

Hello everybody,

Hope my readers don't mind me posting again so soon ;-).

This time I would like to show you a page I made using white mixed media paper (I prefer this one over normal scrapbooking card because takes inks and paste and so on much better).

There is my page:

I started building my background by applying Golden Modeling Paste over one of Prima Marketing - Poppies collection masks (# 922139), in the area where I planned to put my photo. You can hardly see those on the photo as I sprayed the page with Lime Green Dylusion ink while the paste was still wet. Then I sprayed turquoise ink on the external part of my page and lots of water on the page and left it to dry.

Once the page was dried I applied stamps from Tim Holtz Mixed Media collection around my photo and in the lower left corner. Then I added more Golden paste with brick 6x6 stencil.

For the frame around my photo I used Sizzix die and cut 3 layers out of my mixed media paper (it is thick paper, but not dense - cuts easily) , then sticked them using Ranger Medium, once dried I painted it with brown paint (Ranger) and brushed over Patina Blue Perfect Perl, 3 layers of the paper + glue and paint gave me a thickness of a chipboard.

The chipboard flourishes in the corners are by Petaloo, I only added some white gesso  over them. White roses, metal flower and stickers are by Prima and blue flowers are from my own production using white hand made mulberry paper and Dylusion inks and my Spellbinder dies.. I might give a tutorial on how I make these if any interest.

I decided to enter this page into  Get Creative - May Challenge. You can find all about their challenge on the blog here. For months of May the challenge is to use flowers on the page ;-) - EASY.

There are some close-ups:

Thank you very much for your visit and any comments.

Scrap Around The World May Challenge

Hi All

I promised myself I will be scraping more and taking part in challenges, and here is a brand new challenge run by very talented Helen from Scrap Addict and you can find everything about the challenge on the challenge blog Scrap Around The World.

The challenge provides a sketch and inspiration board which is super cool and for the months of may we have:

I was inspired by the colours, this is my favourite combination at the moment :-)

And there is my page:

I used some stencils and stamps to create my background, feather is made using the spellbinder dies and lots of lumina powder, tulle-silk flowers are my own, you can find the tutorial in my earlier post and paper flowers are by Prima.

I must admit this sketch was not easy for me, and I ended up making 3 backgrounds until finally decided on this one - very plain.

Hope you like the page - there are some closed ups:

I would also like to add that my daughter is wearing her peacock tutu on these photo;  I made the myself taking instructions from  here.

Thank you for your visit.
