Once Upon a Sketch - 15th July Challenge

I had so much fun doing the Once Upon A  Sketch challenge last time. The newest sketch is as much inspiring as the previous one and I had to play again.

This is the sketch:

and the journalling criteria for this challenge was to use a quote with additional  journalling as optional. This is my take on the sketch:

A quote that perfectly described the moment was by Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky :"The soul is healed by being with children" from The Idiot.

The photos were taken one Septembers evening when we were going home after stressful working day and I decided to break the rules and stop in the park for only 15 minutes. We enjoyed that amazing autumn's sunshine and wonderful colours and all that their happiness made my day.

Used Basic Grey papers and stickers, some Prima flowers, Glimmer mist, Hero Arts stamps, Ranger inks and text is printed from the computer.

Thank you very much for reading my blog and all kind comments.

Using-up Scraps of Papers

Hello everybody,

We have been enjoying real summer here these days, for those readers who are not familiar with Irish weather, temperature over 20 C degrees and whole day sunny day is not something we can see very often.

One my last post Triona asked me if I hand stitched that big flower behind the photo: Yes I did. I know it sounds crazy but I always start that and regret when I am about third way through (LOL), but once I finish the project I forgot all 'pain' (LOL) and do it again.

I would like to show you a couple of projects made out of scraps of papers. When I like some paper pack, first it takes me ages to start cutting them, they kind of have to 'mature' with me (LOL) then once I start using them I don't like to waste a bit of them.

This one is inspired by LO published in Scrapbooking Trends , not sure which issue was it. I used Basic Grey papers, one very old collection, my home made flowers and Sizzix dies and grunge board (to cut big letter) and Smooch mist. Stamps are Autum Leaves and Making Memories, I think.
The photos of my 2 daughters from last summer holiday. The circle is hand stitched, I again.

The second LO is using leftovers Pink Paslee papers, chipboard sticker and foam letters from last crop I went to. I added the Webster Pages trim and my own flower. This time I used my toy sewing machine for the stitching.

And few close ups:

Thanks again for reading my blog, I will be back soon.

Once Upon A Sketch Challenge

Hello my dear readers

I managed to finish challenge page on time! Hooray! The challenge is from Once Upon A Sketch and this was the sketch:

It was so inspiring that I nearly finished page in one night - so unusual for me (LOL) and this is my take on it

I used K&Co papers for this + kraft card, lots of inking and  distressing. The flower is my own, made from same fabric as the dress, just used reverse side. The journalling criteria for the challenge is to name the person on the photo and put at least one fact about the person in two 2 sentences long, which I did. My daughter Barbara is on the photo and I wrote about her winning a trophy on her class feis.
And a close up:

This is all for now. Have a pile of pages that are waiting for my camera, hopefully I will write something soon again.

Crop Again

Hi everybody, I hope you all are having nice day and lots of fun.

As I said in my last post I will be going to my second crop, again designed by Annamarie. This time we worked with lovely summery papers by Pink Paislee, Hometown collection. The collection was just perfect for photos from our summer holidays in my parents house.

It was so hot, hot, hot that the children were cooling down under a sprinkler. These are very old photos, my DD1 and my nephew on the second LO when they were little. Papers, letters and stickers are all from the Pink Paislee hometown summer collection.

Again I decided  the papers are too nice to be waisted and made one more page out of the leftovers and the second page is on the way too.:

This time I kind of took leftovers and photos and 'let them fell on the card' no sketch or anything planed in  advance. I am very please with the result. Two felt flowers are made by me as extra touches. Photos are of my DD2 from our last visit.

Some close-ups:

Thank you very much and have a nice day.

My First Crop

Hello my dear readers.

I have been scrapbooking for now nearly 4 years but only two months ago I managed to attend to a crop for the first time ever. The class was designed by Annamarie from TheScrapbookstore.ie and the details are here. I must admit I really enjoyed a social aspect of the crop. We used Salt Air collection, papers buttons and chip stickers by Cosmo Cricket, lovely papers and other items.

Then, despite all enjoyment and excitement it took me nearly 2 months to complete those two simple pages, had to make some adjustments to the original design so that fits with my photos. These are the pages that I end up with:

Then I've got inspired and made two more pages from the leftovers:

Both of these pages are based on sketches, first one is from the Page Maps (I think)   and the second one is based on the scrap-a-little sketch, it seems I cannot make an original page anymore (LOL), but there is something in those two pages that is not usual me: I've got loose with mists and stamps and I must admit I am happy with the results.

I am going tomorrow night again on the same crop, I am looking forward to it and hope this time I will be quicker with finishing pages.

All have a nice time till next post and thank you for reading my blog and any comments.

Thank You Helen

Hi everybody,
I cannot believe I am posting today again, but there is a reason; I was just trilled to see that Helen from the Scrap-A-Little become my follower. Thank you so much Helen, I adore your sketches, flowers and your pages of course and would recommend everybody to visit your blog.

And now I would like to share two pages I made using Helen's  sketches:

It looks like the white balance on the page two is not right, the background should be snow white. Anyway all flowers on these pages are hand made by me, again something I learnt on Helen's blog that a page can look stunning without spending a fortune on embellishments.

I used satin ribbon to make roses, there are lots of tutorials about these on YouTube, and white embroidery fabric and inks to do Yo-yo flower on the page 2.  The yo-yo flowers were inspired by two my daughter has on her dress, not very visible on the photo.

The butterflies on the page one are QuitzKutz die and Marta Stuart punch and bling swirl is again 'home' made using hot fix gems by Imaginesca. And there are few close-ups:

These yo-yo flowers are very simple to make and any fabric could be used, if anybody is interested in tutorial, let me know and I will post one here.

Thanks again, see you soon,

Back to Crafting

Hello

I haven't been blogging or crafting for nearly months now, at this stage I can only say that I had good reason for that I am coming back into it slowly these days. I would like to share with you now one layout I did long time ago. It was for the Pencil Lines design team search. In some way it is good I did not get into the team considering how little time I had for crafting over the last two months.

Anyway, this is Anna's sketch provided for the team search:

and this is my page I made:

and few close-ups:

The papers and dragonfly stickers are from the Basic Grey paper pack and flowers are made by me. Chipboard title is made using using Sizzix dies covered with card and coated with modge podge.

I will hopefully be working on some tutorial soon to keep this blog interesting and useful.

Cheers

One layout and Raffia flower

Hello all
I thought it is high time for my second post. Well, I have so much to show I could put there 5 posts but not that much time.
For the start, I took a part in Pencil lines designer contest, I don't think I will be chosen, but never mind I loved the sketch and did the work for my own fun. In fact I loved the sketch so much that did not one but two layouts and I am showing here the second one:

This is the layout I suppose to put in my first post as it featuring more of my denim flowers:

The flourishes is Technique Tuesday stamp and papers are by Fancy Pants. 'Delight' was written on the paper so I decided to use it as part of the title, in addition the Sizzix dies were used to cut 'summer'.
Now I would like to say something about raffia. I never bother using it on my layouts until I saw the new raffia flowers by Prima, aren't they gorgeous. Then I both some raffia and determined to reproduce those, for my own fun, of course. This is my first try:

I promise, the next one will be even nicer and I will show you how I done this in my next post, if you are interested.

Thanks
