Silk and Tule Flower Tutorial - Tattered Flower Challenge

Hi all

It is hard to believe that I am blogging second time today. Reason for that is deadline for Tim Holtz Tattered Flower Challenge, check it out yourself on the link, even if it is too late to play, you will find lots of inspiration of how to use your Tattered Flower Die.

I bought some pure silk recently and had lots of tulle, left over from children s costumes and decided to make a flower out of those.

This is what you will need:

•  Cut 5-8 the biggest flowers out of your tulle, 3 silk flowers - medium and optionally 3 smallest flowers from the tulle, and you will need a button or something for the center.

• take needle and some fine tread, I used silk, and start folding each big tulle flower in half and stitching and gathering folded petals one by one - like one the photo above. 

•  Once you finished you should have something like this:

•  Tie your tread at the back of your flower, but do not cut it, spread the petals evenly .

• Layer your silk petals and  the small tulle petals in the middle of the flower, then add some button and sew trough it

 

And there is my finished product:

I used 8 layers on the right flower and 5 on the left one. This flower can be used on garments, bags, heir accessories, in all those cases I would advise to hot-glue some felt circle on the back, and for myslef I think I have perfect photos to use them on my scrapbook pages.

It would be nice to stamp some scrip or something on the white silk, unfortunately I did not have blue ink I wanted for it  - they are on my wish list now ;-) .

Please all forgive me on bad photographs, it is midnight here and I just made those flowers and snap them with my mobile phone, have million things for tomorrow so this had to be done now.

Once Upon a Sketch - Weekend

Hi Everybody,

It has been while since I played a challenge or anything like that. I decided to change that ASAP and made a page based on marvelous sketch from Once Upon A Sketch challenge blog. I like this blog the most because it does not give you only fabulous sketch, but also theme for the page and journaling request. So without further bla, bla ... the sketch is:

 
and the topic is 'Weekend'.

So my take is:

Photos are from our weekend in Co. Wexford last year. Journaling is about the fact that my best weekends are those when family spends together and sometimes we can achieve that only when we go away. The best memories from the weekends away are not necessarily about the place we visit, but about our time together. The journaling is hidden on the pull out tag under the first photo and it written in my native language.

7. Doily - given by a friend, 
8. for the tag I used Hero Arts stamp and  acid-free parchemnet paper bought in a stationary shop

Annamarie's Class and Prima Layouts

Hi Everybody

I am doing my best to be a bit better with regularity of my posts. I will show you something I started last summer and put finishing touches only recently.

I attended Annamarie's class last summer, she had a goody bag full of gorgeous Prima papers and flower and designed 2 pages. So I happily started working on the first page, which, of course I did not finish during the class, so there is my finished page now:

    
And this is pretty much copy of what Annmarie did.

Second page had instructions, which I of course lost by time I came back to the kit and the pages.
The lost instructions did not put me down, who would not be inspired by those papers and Prima flowers and it happened that I had some wooden buttons from the same collection. I added few bits and bobs from my stash and used up the kit as you can see:

This is my favorite page, my DD2 and her first ever 'academic' achievement - she is 'graduating' in her creshe, LOL.  This would not be so funny if she was starting regular school that year. Since my older daughter used to go to a private school at the time they where taking in pre-school children too so we decided to move the little one from the creshe and here it is her 'Graduation' - How funny is that!?
Anyway, I was even brave to stamp on those patterned papers, using  Hero Arts script stamp and I used it on following pages as well.  I could not resist not to use all scraps of paper:

Prima flowers packaging is used as a journaling card on the last page. And some close ups:

Small flowers are Prima, the big once are homemade/die-cuts. The fabric flower is made using off-white canvas and then I applied some distress ink.
